- Experience Architect -
18 years flied...
I received traditional Chinese education all the way to high school.
During the time, I drew, played table tennis, and watched a LOT of anime :)
1997
I was born in Nanjing, China,
the old capital city dated back in 229 A.D.
2015
I decided to come to States for college and majored in Architecture in Washington University in St.louis.
4 years away from home...
I studied Japanese in the first two years and had summer program in Kyoto.
My love to Japanese culture & Architecture motivated me to work in Tokyo as interns.
一生懸命頑張りました!
I studied Italian and took a semester Architecture exchange program in Florence, Italy.
It was a great time and also the time I decided to take a break from schooling. I need down-to-earth practices.
CIAO! 👋
I graduated as an Exceptional Architecture Student.
2019
I decided to extend my design practices to everything people can interact within the physical space.
Thus, I started my journey as a design catalyst in teamLab Tokyo, Japan.
Their ways of fusing art, science, technology, and the natural world amazed me and expanded my understandings of physical interactions.
short but amazing time...
2020
I went back to my hometown and worked as an interior designer, renovating & repurposing historical buildings & streets dated back to 1900s when COVID hit.
I learned so much about my hometown city than ever before and never felt so proud growing up in this city. As the designer, I became part of the city construction and modernization.
During the process, I also managed to become a licensed tour guide in China. If you are ever in China, in Nanjing, let me know. I will show you around :)
time at home fled away fast...
2021
After a year of practice as traditional space designer, I then moved on and worked on more tech-savvy projects.
I took a job in an Interactive Art & Design company in Shanghai as an on-site Installation designer.
I designed and managed art & architecture projects and assisted in planning events in the space I designed and built.
The intense real-life design training pulled out my desire to learn more about design, technology, engineering, and business. I want to be more independent as a holistic, interdisciplinary and mature designer.
One step moving forward...
2021
This drive led me to here, the current master program: Engineering Design & Innovation in Northwestern University.
I have learned to design in a human-centric approaches, projecting consumers' true needs both physically and emotionally to the designs instead of mine.
I have learned to output design not just a piece of functional art but a holistic package that can be put on the market and win in a long run.
I have learned to listen to others and be a better designer with love and empathy.
A very fruitful 18 months...
So now,
What's next?...
These are some of the teams I’ve had the pleasure to work with...
